Amarillo Area Corvette Club

Amarillo is a city with a population of approximately 150,000 people that's located in the Panhandle region of Texas. The Amarillo Area Corvette Club has grown rapidly in the past two years with the help of members from Amarillo and the surrounding three-state area. Among the membership are a large number of ladies who are very passionate about Corvettes. Among these are 13 ladies who personally own and drive Corvettes. Eleven of the 13 are profiled here.

On a snowy January evening, during our first business meeting of the new year, A.A.C.C. President Don Houghton suggested that it might be fun for our lady Corvette owners to participate in VETTE Magazine's 2004 annual feature on women and their Corvettes. I was amazed at the instant interest and enthusiasm expressed. After a short planning meeting, the ladies got busy writing their individual articles and taking fun photographs of themselves and their Corvettes.

Eight of the ladies turned out on a very chilly February day to take some group photographs at Palo Duro State Park, just south of Amarillo. The Palo Duro Canyon is second only to the Grand Canyon in size. Amarillo is primarily an agricultural and cattle ranching community with numerous back roads where we, ladies included, can enjoy driving our Corvettes.
